Groundbreaking for New Wahconah Regional HS Expected by March
The groundbreaking for the new $72.7 million Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton is expected in March, with completion targeted for the fall of 2021. Managed by Skanska USA Building Inc., the project will replace the 59-year-old school with a modern facility funded by $41.33 million from the district’s seven towns and $31.38 million from the Massachusetts School Building Authority. Value engineering has kept the project on budget, and construction plans are on schedule, with 90% of documents set for state review by March. The new school will be built east of the current building, which will be demolished to make way for playing fields. Construction will proceed alongside active school operations, ensuring minimal disruption to the community.
